Newton Rigg Society
Welcome to the Newton Rigg Society. The Newton Rigg Society exists to link current and past members of the College, providing support to those studying agriculture, forestry, other rural interests and all disciplines offered on Campus.
What We Do
The Society’s activities include an AGM, reunion dinners and related trips, visits and guest speakers of interest to the membership. It also intends to offer bursaries, scholarships and other forms of awards and assistance to Newton Rigg students to further advance their studies.
How is it Run?
Lord Inglewood is the Society President, well known as the owner of the lovely Hutton-in-the-Forest house and gardens, the Committee is chaired by the respected livestock farmer and entrepreneur Trevor Wilson, most recently a key figure in the creation of the new Auction Mart at Kendal. Vice Chair is Fiona Kidd who is a past day release student and now involved with the supply of animal health products to numerous companies in the North of England. The Secretary is Chris Mountain, also a past Newton Rigg student.
Representatives of the Newton Rigg Students’ Union also have a presence on the Committee, as well as the Campus Principal of North, and Campus Director. Other committee members from across the whole of Cumbria bring a breadth of experience to the team.
Key events are planned throughout the year and are notified to members via a newsletter and on the Newton Rigg Society Facebook page.
Be Part of Our Growing Network
Newton Rigg students are automatically enrolled as members of the Society when they enrol at the College and benefit from one year’s complimentary membership after they leave.
We hope these students will choose to remain members and make the most of the opportunity to stay in touch with the college and their student peers.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Newton Rigg Society, want to share memories and be part of a network of ex-students and friends please email us for further details.
