If you, or someone you know, needs a little extra help with learning, likes to be active and on the go and wants to try new and exciting things, this could be the opportunity you are looking for! Our courses are for anyone with no formal qualifications who is looking to progress in life and work in a vocational area. We welcome applications from students who need more support with or without an EHCP (Educational Health Care Plan).
What are the courses?
We offer Entry Level 2 and Entry Level 3 in Practical Countryside Skills.
The units you will study include
- Horticulture and conservation where you will work in our educational and peaceful gardens
- Animal Care where you will have access to our purpose-built Animal Academy
- Agricultural Animals and Poultry with visits to our dairy and hill farms
What will it be like?
You will study in college for 3 days per week. There will be mix of practical and theory sessions with personal development and employability skills built into your sessions. We will give you work experience opportunities as a group. You will continue to study English and maths at the right level for you until you reach GCSE Level 4.
What do I need to start the course?
You don’t need any formal qualifications but you do need to be willing to work hard and we will need to assess you to make sure we can provide the right support and get you on the right level of programme.
What can I do when I finish?
You can move onto a higher Entry Level course or progress direct to Level 1.(hyperlink on L1)
Practical Countryside Skills will give you a broad section of transferable skills and interests and you can use it to progress onto any Level 1 course we offer. However we realise that this may not suit everyone. If we have sufficient interest from students who do not want to follow a landbased route we can also offer a recognised qualification involving skills for work, communication, business skills and other optional units.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like any more details about Entry Level courses or to arrange an interview.
