SHARE YOUR LOVE OF LEARNING These courses are designed for anyone with an interest in the care and welfare of young children.
Working within the Care Industry can be extremely rewarding and provide great job satisfaction. If you are enthusiastic and have a passion for helping others then these courses could be for you.
In order to work with children you need to hold a clean DBS and a relevant qualification. Upon successful completion this qualification gives you Early Years Educator status, which means you can be a practitioner. You cannot work in a childcare setting without this.
Students will be able to benefit from on-site facilities including; Muddy Boots Nursery – providing care for children aged 3 months to pre-school, a Forest School site, dedicated base room with a wide variety of teaching and learning resources, a range of literacy and numeracy equipment, access to real babies through longitudinal studies, and a range of equipment for developing craft and play activities.

Muddy Boots Nursery, based on the College campus, works in partnership with the department allowing students to work with the children in the nursery.
The department also works closely with local schools and Barnardos use the College's Forest School site regularly. Students get involved with the local community and organisations, such as East Cumbria Family Support and Eden Young Carers come and give talks to our students.
Tumble Tots also involve our students as well as our annual festive Forest Trail which takes place in December and is run by our students. Many of our students go on to become nannies or holiday reps and the College has many close links with agencies in relevant sectors.
