Following on from last year’s extremely successful competition Newton Rigg College, in conjunction with the British Association of Shooting and Conservation and the National Gamekeepers Organisation, is offering another unique opportunity for youngsters to get a taste of life as a Gamekeeper with the chance to WIN one of only 14 places on a two-day, all-inclusive ‘Gamekeeping Experience’.

This brilliant opportunity, open to students who are 14-16 years old, will be held at Newton Rigg College. Beginning on the evening of Friday 29th running to Sunday 1st July 2018.

The Experience Weekend will include many aspects of Gamekeeping, including visiting the College’s grouse moor, shotgun safety and clay pigeon shooting, deer stalking, game cookery and air rifle shooting.

To be in with a shot at winning a place on the Gamekeeping Experience weekend, entrants are required to write a short piece (no more than 250 words) about why they want to come to be part of the Experience.

All the organisations involved would encourage youngsters to enter if they’re the outdoor type, as this competition will give them the chance to see what it takes to be a real Gamekeeper. The ‘Experience will hopefully light a spark in those who may not have even considered a career in Gamekeeping. Gamekeeping is an excellent career choice for those who love the outdoor life and want to learn the skills which would help them to work in estate management, wildlife management or technical and environmental consultancy roles.

Newton Rigg College has excellent facilities and strong links with the gamekeeping and wildlife management industry.
