Success for Newton Rigg for upskilling courses for Cumbrian employees.
Newton Rigg College has been a member of the consortium of providers who have delivered short courses to Cumbrian employees as part of The Edge in Cumbria programme over the past twelve months. The exciting programme, which began in summer 2017, has seen over 277 employees from across Cumbria accessing these courses to advance their current skillset to enable them to help further their careers and their employment opportunities.
Newton Rigg has been delivering fully funded training for businesses across the agriculture and land based sectors in Cumbria. The programme has been delivered by a range of partners, throughout the county, committed to developing skills in the workforce across Cumbria.
Funding for the programme was given by the European Social Fund (ESF) to support Cumbria’s Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) vision for the county to have one of the fastest growing economies in the UK by raising skills levels and reducing skills gaps.
Since July last year the programme at Newton Rigg has engaged with 295 Cumbria employers, completed 124 Training Needs Analysis, supported 137 employers with employees on a programme and delivered training to 277 employees in total.
85 courses have been delivered including Advanced Dairy Management, All Terrain Vehicles, Beauty, Chainsaws, Dry Stone Walling, Floristry and Pesticides.
Fantastic feedback has been given with comments such as:
