Equine Management Level 3
A step up from the Level 2 Diploma, the Level 3 courses offer the opportunity to investigate a range of more advanced horse management topics both in the classroom and practically on the equine yard. There is also the opportunity to study other related qualifications alongside the diploma to best prepare you for employment or higher education within the equine sector.
This course includes work experience including the preparation and running of Askham Bryan Horse Trials, animal feeding and health, horse tack and equipment, riding and exercising horses, principles of equitation, horse behaviour and welfare, preparing horses for presentation, anatomy and physiology, riding horses on the flat, rehabilitation and therapy, business management, animal biology, riding over fences or working horses on the ground, horse fitness, equestrian teaching and an investigative project of your own. Your work is assessed continually throughout the course, this could be through practical work, theory and riding as well as written assignments.
Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (new GCSE grading levels 4 to 9) to include any 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade D in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English and Maths at Level 2
Higher education qualifications such as Foundation Degrees in Equine Event Management or Equine Sports Management and, if you're successful, then on to a top up BSc Hons Degree.
