Equine Care Level 2
A varied programme including academic subjects and lectures, practical horse care tuition, riding instruction and work experience. There is also an opportunity to study towards health and safety with horses.
In addition to work experience, the course covers subjects such as feeding and watering horses, routine stable duties, horse handling, horse tack and clothing and riding on the flat and over fences. There are trips to events such as the Horse of the Year Show in addition to Badminton and Bramham Horse Trials. Your work is continually assessed throughout the course, including written, oral, practical and work-based assignments. Newton Rigg has its own dedicated Equine Yards and Arenas.
Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade E or above including Maths and English (new GCSE grading level 3) with Science desirable. Alternatively a suitable Level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1.
Upon successful completion of this course students may progress onto a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management.
