Overview
If you want a career in beauty therapy then this is the course for you, providing you with all the necessary knowledge and skills to work as a junior therapist in a salon. You will learn how to provide treatments for improving the condition of skin and nails and how to apply make- up professionally. Develop the skills to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients and suppliers along with the skills to run a business successfully.
Description
You will learn how to provide treatments for improving the condition of skin and nails and how to apply make up professionally. Develop the skills to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients and suppliers along with the skills to run a business successfully. Modules may include, enhancing the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes, evening and special occasions, health and safety, improving personal effectiveness at work, make-up for day, manicures and pedicures, providing an effective reception service, providing facial skincare treatment, selling and promoting products and services to clients, teamwork and waxing services.
It is advisable for students to arrange a work placement alongside their study of this course to support their employability skills.
Entry Requirements
Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade E or above including Maths and English (new GCSE grading level 3) with Science desirable. Alternatively a suitable Level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1.
Further Study
Upon successful completion of this course students may progress into a Level 3 qualification in General Beauty Therapy, Complimentary Therapy, Nails or Spa pathways.
