Advanced Apprenticeship Horticulture

Overview

On the job' training at your place of work with some college based study (block release weeks scheduled throughout the year). Many employers now look for employees with Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship qualifications. Work Based Diplomas include practising and demonstrating a range of skills in general amenity horticulture.

Description

Maintain and develop personal performance, Effective working relationships, Preparing ground for seeding and planting, Establishing plants or seeds in soil, Maintain moisture levels for crops or plants, Establishing crops or plants in a growing medium, Maintain the condition of sports turf surfaces, Health of sports turf, Construct and maintain boundaries and paths, Construct and maintain paths, Health and safety. The Advanced Apprenticeship consists of the Work Based Diploma at Level 3 and involves higher level study and competence for people in roles of increased responsibility within the management of horticulture and related services. Opportunities exist to take additional specialist qualifications, but charges may apply to the student or employer.

Entry Requirements

Normally Level 2 Apprenticeship or considerable work experience

Further Study

From Level 3 to degree courses such as Foundation or Honours Degrees in a related subject.
