Intermediate Apprenticeship Gamekeeping and Wildlife Management
As an Apprentice students must be employed in a relevant industry, working a minimum 16 hour week on either an upland or lowland shoot.
This qualification is a Level 2 work-based diploma and is delivered over seven one-week blocks in College. The practical skills acquired in the workplace will be assessed during regular visits by the College Assessor over the course of the Apprenticeship. As part of the Apprenticeship you are required to work on Functional Skills at Level 1 in English and Maths if you have not achieved English and Maths GCSE at E grade.
During the Apprenticeship students will have the opportunity to do training courses in all-terrain vehicles, game meat hygiene, safe use of firearms, first aid, GWCT snaring course, chainsaw skills, brushcutter, safe use of rodenticides , aluminum phosphide and tractor driving, for which additional charges will apply.
No formal entry qualifications are required though appliants must be in employment. We may be able to help you to find a suitable position.
Upon successful completion of this course students may progress onto a Level 3 course, such as an Advanced Apprenticeship.
