Information about Degrees
Foundation degrees can be studied as a two-year full-time programme or part-time over three years. They are broadly equivalent to the first two years (Levels 4 and Level 5) of an Honours Degree and can lead straight to employment or progression to an Honours Degree. They are designed so that academic study is linked with work-based learning, so these programmes mean that you will be working in industry and gaining the skills that businesses are looking for alongside your period of study. It will be your responsibility to find and secure your own work placements, but it’s our responsibility to make sure you get all the support you need while you’re looking and to visit and support you during your placements. The value of these placements cannot be underestimated and our external examiners recognise this in their comments:
‘Placement is an important and integral part of courses such as this, and is crucial in helping to produce ‘industry savvy’ individuals.’
‘The College has established good industrial links which will increase the employability of their students’
Students also value their work placements:
‘.. being able to undertake a work placement alongside my studies has been brilliant.’
‘I really enjoy the course and I think it will help me to get a job in the future.’
