Higher Education Degree Courses Awarded and validated by Harper Adams University
Foundation Degrees
These programmes contain a significant amount of practical and vocational skills and there’s essential work experience included in both years of study. For each module of your course you will be given full details of what’s involved and how you will be assessed. Work experience is a key part of your studies. Now more than ever, employers need graduates who have the skills and competencies needed in their business AND the proven ability to apply them in the workplace. It’s your responsibility to find and secure your own work placements; it’s our responsibility to make sure you get all the support you need while you’re looking and to visit and support you during your placements. Assessment isn’t just about marking your work – it’s a key part of the learning process. Each module usually has two pieces of assessment. Methods used might include essays, problem-solving assignments, oral presentations, written reports, individual and team exercises, experimental work, assignments at your work placement as well as some formal examinations. Practical assessment could include things like the design and set up of scientific instruments, analysis of data collected and presentation of results.
