
What is this course about?
The qualification aims to provide learners with an understanding of the principles of dog grooming and how these can be put into practice. This course provides an overview of working within a dog grooming parlour and gives learners an insight into the management of this type of establishment with the emphasis being focused on practical bathing and grooming techniques.
What is covered by this course?
Health checking of the dog
Understanding a dogs temperament
Grooming out and bathing
Ear and nail care
Trimming of dogs paws and paw pads
Grooming equipment and equipment maintenance
Basic clipping and scissoring of the coat
What are lessons like?
Lessons are practically based within the Animal Academy’s fully equipped dog grooming room. Learners will be assessed by practical, oral and written assessments.
When will I need to attend?
Thursday evening: Animal Academy, Newton Rigg, Penrith:
Time: 6:00pm- 9:00pm for 20 weeks
Start Date: 29th September 2011
End Date: 23rd February 2012
Are there any entry requirements?
Experience with dogs is preferred but not essential.
You must have an up to date tetanus vaccination.
