Lantra Awards Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Fell Trees up to 200mm

Description

This course is suitable for someone who would be classed as an occasional operator and who intends to use the chainsaw for business, domestic or leisure activities, but does not intend to work in forestry or arboricultural activities or work on Forest Enterprise land or fell timber above 200 mm.  

The course is in two sections and covers the following:

  • Maintenance and cross-cutting
  • Workshop safety awareness
  • Guide bar, saw chain and power unit maintenance
  • Re-assembly
  • Health and safety features
  • Lubrication and fuelling
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Starting and pre-cutting checks
  • Site safety awareness
  • Cross-cutting and stacking timber
  • Basic felling techniques (up to 200mm in diameter)
  • Preparation, felling, de-limbing and taking down of hung up trees
  • This course is an integrated training and assessment session leading to a Lantra Awards Certificate in Basic Training
