Level 2 Horticulture, Sports Turf and Landscaping

Overview

This course gives a general introduction to horticulture, landscaping and sports turf, which is suitable for anyone wanting to prepare for more advanced study or a career in horticulture.

Description

Modules include orticultural science, plant identification, use and maintenance, landscape construction, machinery operation, brick work, water features, estate skills, surveying and setting out, mowing, management of winter sports turfed areas, specialist horticultural features, plant establishment, and turf. Arboriculture modules may also be included. The course includes lectures, classroom-based work with an emphasis on practical sessions giving students' relevant practical experience and industry skills. Students' work is assessed throughout the course, through observed assessments, underpinning knowledge and written work.

Entry Requirements

Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade E or above including Maths and English (new GCSE grading level 3) with Science desirable. Alternatively a suitable Level 1 vocational qualification with English and Maths at Level 1.
 

Further Study

Upon successful completion of this course students may progress to a Level 3 course or into the horticultural and landscape industries.
