Level 3 Introduction to Animal Nursing Science

Overview

This course is ideal for students looking to build on their skills in order to enter a career in Veterinary Nursing.

Description

This one year course will give you the opportunity to develop your animal handling skills, knowledge and understanding of the veterinary industry and build on the animal based science skills which will help support any future progression to more formal and specialised veterinary nursing pathways. Course themes include; animal health, anatomy and physiology, animal biology, animal nursing, animal handling and safe working, accommodation and feeding, in addition to welfare and breed development. Your work is assessed continually throughout the course.

Entry Requirements

Usually at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (new GCSE grading levels 4 to 9) to include any 2 from English, Maths and Science with at least a grade D in the remaining subject. Alternatively a suitable Level 2 vocational qualification (Merit or above) with English and Maths at Level 2
 

It is advisable for applicants to find a work placement to undertake whilst studying this course. 

Further Study

Upon successful completion of this course students may go on to study a Level 3 Veterinary Nursing course, a Foundation Degree in Veterinary Nursing (dependent on qualifications and sufficient UCAS points) or onto a Level 3 Extended Diploma Animal Management course.
