Intermediate Apprenticeship Horse Care

Overview

The course consists of on-the-job training at your place of work with some off-the-jo’ training which may include College-based study. If you are currently working in the equine industry in roles such as livery stables, riding stables or other equine establishments and do not want to attend college full time, this programme could be for you.

Description

This qualification is available to learners throughout the North of England as our assessors travel to your yard to assess your progress. Pathways the students can follow are either Horse Care, Horse Care with Riding or Horse Care with Breeding at Level 2. The framework consists of Work Based Diploma, 1st4Sport Intermediate Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care, Functional Skills in maths and English – Level 1, Employment Rights and Responsibilities qualification, Personal Learning and Thinking Skills delivered through both On the job and Off the job training. Some modules include horse welfare, feeding, horse husbandry, riding, transporting horses, and health and safety.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry qualifications are required but all apprentices are required to be employed at an appropriate work placement or in employment. We may be able to help you to find a suitable position.

Further Study

Upon successful completion of this course students may go on to study a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Horse Management or a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Horse Care and Management.
