Intermediate Apprenticeship Environmental Conservation
This course comprises of on-the-job training at your place of work with some College-based study on either a block or day release basis. The Apprenticeship consists of the Level 2 Work-Based Diploma plus Business for the Environmental and Land-Based Sector and functional skills.
This Work-Based Diploma can be well-matched to your job. Focusing on outdoor learning, apprentices get taught a great balance of practical skills on-the-job and college work. It includes a wide range of set and optional units such as maintaining habitats, environmental good practice, surveying and reporting, maintaining equipment and machines, health and safety, communicating with the public, working with others and promoting responsible use of the environment.
Opportunities exist to take additional specialist qualifications such as ATV training, brush cutter and chainsaw training, but charges may apply to the student or employer. Practising and demonstrating a range of practical skills such as dry-stone walling, fencing, footpath restoration, tree planting and hedge maintenance are an important part of the course.
No formal entry qualifications are required but Maths and English skills are a necessity. Students will need an appropriate work placement or position of employment in a relevant industry. We may be able to help you to find a suitable position before the course commences.
Successful students could progress on to a Level 3 course, such as an Advanced Apprenticeship in Environmental Conservation or onto Full Time Level 3 study in Countryside Management.
