City & Guilds NPTC Awards in Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross Cutting, Felling and Processing Trees

Overview

At Askham Bryan College we offer a range of courses on chainsaw operation to help you gain new skills and update existing ones. Chainsaws are very versatile tools with a variety of uses but they are also potentially dangerous. Serious accidents can and do occur without proper training or because operators have not kept their skills up to date. The forestry and arboricultural industries recognise that good health and safely practice is vital for operators and business. Gaining industry recognized qualifications ensures that operators have reached agreed standards of competence and the City & Guilds NPTC qualifications are ideally suited to the professional chainsaw user as the HSE recommend that the minimum level of adequate for chainsaw operators should be achieved by undertaking an independent assessment in the relevant activities. Following the successful completion of these qualifications candidates can progress on to further City & Guilds NPTC Chainsaw related qualifications as appropriate to their work. These qualifications are suitable for those seeking contractual work in professional forestry, amenity or arboricultural activities and the successful completion of these units will enable candidates to progress to more advanced units.
