City & Guilds NPTC Award in the Safe Use of a Powered Pole Pruner

Description

This qualification will give you the skills required to operate this machine safely.

Askham Bryan College offers a range of courses on chainsaw operation to help you gain new skills and update existing ones.

Chainsaws are very versatile tools with a variety of uses but they are also potentially dangerous. Serious accidents can and do occur without proper training or because operators have not kept their skills up to date. The forestry and arboricultural industries recognise that good health and safely practice is vital for operators and business.

Gaining industry recognized qualifications ensures that operators have reached agreed standards of competence and the City & Guilds NPTC qualifications are ideally suited to the professional chainsaw user as the HSE recommend that the minimum level of adequate for chainsaw operators should be achieved by undertaking an independent assessment in the relevant activities.

Following the successful completion of this qualification, candidates can progress to further City & Guilds NPTC Chainsaw related qualifications as appropriate to their work.

Candidates must successfully achieve all the following assessment activities to gain this qualification:

  • Be able to work safely
  • Be able to use a powered pole pruner
  • Know relevant health & safety legislation and industry good practice
  • Know how to use a powered pole pruner
