City & Guilds NPTC Award in Sit Astride All Terrain Vehicle Handling

Description

This course is suitable for those who use, or who will be using, an All Terrain Vehicle for either business or recreational use.

Training is a legal requirement and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) requires employers to ensure that ATVs are used only by employees who have received adequate training in their safe use, including towed equipment and attachments. 

If you are self employed the regulations still apply.  

Training leads to candidates taking an independent assessment arranged through the National Proficiency Test Council (NPTC).

This course is suitable for those who use, or who will be using, an All Terrain Vehicle for either business or recreational use.The course will teach you:

  • Safety, legal requirements and maintenance
  • Correct use of protective clothing
  • Use of controls and instruments
  • Operation procedures
  • Basic safe driving skills including use on slopes and reversing round a corner
  • Use of implements
  • Equipment required

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have some previous experience of the operation of these machines or similar machinery.
