Intermediate Apprenticeship Horticulture

Overview

In this course students take part in on-the-job training at your place of work with some College-based study through block release weeks scheduled throughout the year. Many employers now look for employees with Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship qualifications. Work-Based Diplomas include practising and demonstrating a range of skills in general horticulture.

Description

This Apprenticeship includes practising and demonstrating a range of skills in general horticulture. Horticulture includes plant identification, establishing and maintaining plants, propagation materials and propagating from seed, pest control, in addition to diseases and disorders. This course includes functional skills (English and Maths). Opportunities exist to take additional specialist qualifications such as tractor driving, forklift truck driving, ATV, but charges may apply. Many of our students work for landscape gardening businesses, country houses, plant nurseries, garden centres and for local authorities in horticultural professions, this course will assist students to progress their careers further with many of our sucessful students going on to set up their own businesses.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, applicants must be in employment in a relevant industry.

Further Study

Upon successful completion of this course students may progress to a Level 3 course or to a Degree course in a related subject.
