Advanced Apprenticeship Agriculture

Overview

This course offers advanced on-the-job training at your place of work with some College study on day release. This is the next step up from the Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship or for those who have extensive work experience or employment that involves an increased level of responsibility.

Description

Course themes for York and Thirsk are mixed farming, livestock production or extensive crop production. At Newton Rigg course themes are livestock production.

The Advanced Apprenticeship comprises of a Work-Based Diploma at Level 3 and Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English for learners who have not previously achieved these qualifications. The off-the-job training days are an essential part of the delivery of this qualification, providing an underpinning knowledge to support the vocational assessment that takes place in the workplace.

Opportunities exist to take additional specialist qualifications such as tractor driving, forklift truck driving, ATV training, safe use of pesticides safe use of veterinary medicines, but charges may apply - please check with your Centre as to which courses are available.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to have a Level 2 Apprenticeship or considerable work experience to be able to apply for this course.

Further Study

Upon successful completion of this course students may progress onto a Higher Apprenticeship in Agricultural Business Management or a Degree level course, such as the Foundation Degree in Agriculture with Land Management or the Foundation Degree in Uplands Agriculture with Land Management, could be studied upon successful completion of this course.
