Advanced Apprenticeship in Horse Care and Management

Overview

The course consists of on-the-job training at your place of work with some off-the-job training which may include College-based study. If you are currently working in the equine industry in roles such as livery stables, riding stables or other equine establishments and do not want to attend college full time, this programme could be for you. The training is tailored to suit the learner and employer’s needs.

Description

This qualification is available to learners throughout the North of England as our assessors travel to your yard to assess your progress. Pathways the students can follow are either Horse Care and Management, Horse Care and Management with Riding, Horse Care and Management with Coaching or Horse Care and Management with Breeding at Level 3. The framework consists of a Work-Based Diploma, the 1st4Sport Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care and Management, Functional Skills in maths and English- Level 2, Employment Rights and Responsibilities Certificate and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills delivered through on-the-job and off-the-job training. Modules in the Diploma can include horse welfare, nutrition, care of the competition horse, riding and health and safety.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry qualifications are required but all apprentices are required to be employed at an appropriate work placement or in employment. We may be able to help you to find a suitable position.

Further Study

Upon successful completion of this course students may go on to study a Foundation Degree in Equine.
